Some of my friends are so curious about what kind of place I am living here. Well, actually I have written it on my another blog https://www.miyosiariefiansyah.com/2020/01/day-ke-5-di-japan-about-tempat-tinggalku-di-tsukuba.html?m= 0, but maybe it’s not been completed yet. So, I will write it in more detail here. 🙂
I have been living in a place that is called dormitory. In Indonesia, the another name is asrama. Here, dormitory is like apartment, apato, flat, or whatever you name it. Most Japanese residents live in a place like those, not house.
I am so thankful because Tsukuba University provides dormitory for students from outside Japan. Because, we have to rent our own apartment if the university doesn’t provide it. It means we might get more expensive or more remote apartment.
There are some advantages that I take when living in dormitory, they are:
1. Lower rent costs
2. The location is near campus. It can be reached on foot or by bike.
3. The campus atmosphere is more comfortable to study… huehehe.
The dormitory has three types. They are:
1. Single: for unmarried students where single male and female are separated.
2. Couple: for students who bring their family
3. Family: same with number 2
I live in couple dormitory. The name is Ichinoya. The others are Oikoshi, Amakubo, Kasuga, and Hirasuna.
Maybe, you ask me what the difference between couple and family dormitory. I think the main difference is about the partition where bedroom in the family dormitory is given a partition. In the couple is not like that. There is no partition except for bathroom.
